A Brief History of Our School: 1983 - 1999


February 1983


  • School Commenced
  • 36 Students - Reception - Year 7
  • 2 Teachers
  • Part-time Secretary/Teacher Aide
  • Accommodation weatherboard transportables (1918 vintage) donated by Para Vista
  • Another transportable purchased from Edwardstown

1984


  • 70 Students
  • 3 Teachers
  • Part-time Secretary and Teacher Aide/Librarian

1985


  • 101 Students
  • 5 Teachers
  • Part-time Secretary and Teacher Aide/Librarian

1986


  • 110 Students
  • 5 Teachers Full-time & 2 Teachers Part-time
  • Part-time Secretary and Teacher Aide/Librarian

1987


  • 128 Students

  • Borrowed use of teaching space from Congregation (Youth Room) and Kindergarten (Staffroom) while new 'solid' construction school was built

  • Stage 1 (5 classrooms, Library, Multi-Purpose Learning Area, Toilets) opened 6 March 1988

1990

  • Double classroom transportable rented from District (transferred from Mount Barker Lutheran School)
  • Government Grant approved for construction of new Administration building
  • Western Oval - land purchased following 4 years of leasing - loan from SA District Lutheran Church

1992


  • Calvary became a single-streamed Reception - Year 7 school with over 200 students
  • 9 Teachers Full-time & 4 Teachers Part-time
  • Part-time Secretary and Teacher Aide/Librarian and Bursar
  • Administration building opened 1 March 1992

1993


  • 10th ANNIVERSARY
  • Paved shelter shed area completed through Parents & Friends Auxiliary fundraising

1994


  • Paved courtyard achieved through Parents & Friends Auxiliary fundraising

1995


  • Computerisation of the Library
  • Project to provide computer/printer in each room completed
  • Purchase of Years 6/7 double transportable completed

1996


  • Paved Basketball area (Parents & Friends Auxiliary)
  • Front boundary fence (Parents & Friends Auxiliary
  • Bicycle storage area
  • CD ROMS Library (Parents & Friends Auxiliary) and Special Education (Government Grant)

1997


  • Bins Storage area
  • Computers centralised into Library
  • Cricket pitch
  • Main oval

1998


  • 0.2 Computer Teacher employed
  • New external toilet block (BGA Grant)
  • ATCO building removed (conditions of grant)

1999


  • 'The Shed' - A home for the band
  • Computer 'suite' housing 14 computers
  • Computer Teacher 0.3 - each child R-7 receives a formal lesson each week
